Prof. Amos Utuama (SAN), a respected figure in Delta State politics and a former Deputy Governor, has died at the age of 77.
Born on June 5, 1947, Utuama served as Deputy Governor from 2007 to 2015 under Governor Emmanuel Uduaghan.
He also made significant contributions as Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice during Chief James Ibori’s administration.
Former Governor Ibori paid heartfelt tribute to Utuama, saying, “Professor Amos Agbe Utuama, my humble, loyal, and esteemed Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice. You were the steadfast legal foundation of my administration, executing your duties with unwavering dedication. If I could have prevented death, I would have done so for you. Farewell, dear Professor. May your pure soul rest in eternal peace.”
This reflection underscores Utuama’s professionalism and commitment throughout his career.
Recall that in June, Delta State Governor Sheriff Oborevwori had celebrated Utuama’s 77th birthday, praising him for his loyalty and dedication to the development and unity of both the state and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), especially in Delta Central.
