I Rejected Adeyanju’s Bid for PDP Publicity Secretary – Wike

Date:

The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has strongly responded to lawyer and activist Deji Adeyanju’s criticism of recent demolitions in Abuja, accusing him of seeking attention.

Adeyanju, along with activist Vincent Martins Otse (VeryDarkMan) and other protesters, took to the streets to challenge Wike’s handling of the demolition of the Ruga settlement along Airport Road.

The protestors raised placards calling on President Bola Tinubu to intervene and even demanded Wike’s removal from office.

Adeyanju, speaking at the protest, described the demolition as “unjustifiable” and urged President Tinubu to step in and address the situation immediately.

In response, Wike dismissed the criticism, labeling Adeyanju as “jobless” and accused him of using the issue to gain public attention.

The Minister also revealed that Adeyanju had once sought the position of Publicity Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), but his request had been rejected.

The spat highlights the growing tensions surrounding the controversial demolitions in Abuja, with Wike defending his actions as necessary for the city’s development, while critics, including Adeyanju, view them as excessive and damaging to residents.

Wike said: “I saw one young man, they call him Adeyanju. He is from Kogi State.

“This young boy came to me that he wants to be the National Publicity Secretary of the PDP and I said no.

“I said he won’t be, and he was not.

” I have no regret about it. He has suddenly become a civil society activist.

“He has no job and that’s why he decided to turn to a civil society activist.”
