Reports that 25 members of the Lagos State House of Assembly are preparing to leave the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) for another party have been denied by the assembly.
The House Committee on Information, Strategy, and Security’s chairman, Hon. Ogundipe Stephen Olukayode, described the allegation as “entirely false and without merit” in a statement issued on Tuesday.
He added that a similar rumor had wrongly claimed that 27 MPs were planning to join the Labour Party during an earlier leadership fight in the Assembly.
That claim, too, was dismissed by the Assembly at the time.

The statement further clarified: “For the avoidance of doubt, no APC member of the Lagos State House of Assembly is contemplating defection.”
It went on to highlight that while challenges may arise, they are always handled through democratic and lawful processes.
The Assembly reassured the public that party leadership is actively addressing any internal concerns and urged citizens to disregard such misleading reports.
It reaffirmed its unwavering loyalty to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and expressed continued support for the APC’s ideals.
Additionally, the statement issued a warning against the spread of false information and emphasized that the House of Assembly remains focused on its legislative responsibilities to advance the development of Lagos State.
