Kano disbands interim management committees across 44 LGAs

Date:

Kano State Governor, Abba Yusuf, has dissolved the Interim Management Committees overseeing all 44 Local Government Areas (LGAs) in the state.

The announcement, which takes effect immediately, was made during a farewell meeting with the committee members at Africa House, Government House, Kano.

In a statement from the governor’s spokesperson, Sanusi Tofa, it was noted that the dissolution marks the conclusion of the committees’ six-month tenure. During this time, they collaborated with the state government to implement policies and programs aimed at grassroots development.

Governor Yusuf praised the outgoing committee members for their hard work, stating, “Your efforts in managing local government affairs over the past six months have been admirable. You have played an essential role in supporting the state’s mission to foster development at the grassroots level.”

He also reassured the members that they would remain involved, adding, “The state government will continue to value your contributions and involve you in future projects for the benefit of Kano’s people.”

The governor directed that responsibility for managing local government affairs be handed over to the Directors of Personnel Management (DPMs) in each LGA. These DPMs will act as interim overseers until the local government elections, scheduled for October 26, 2024.

Governor Yusuf urged the DPMs to maintain high standards of transparency and accountability, reminding them to “adhere strictly to the rules and regulations guiding your roles as overseers.”

This dissolution comes in preparation for the forthcoming local government elections, which will usher in newly elected officials to lead local governance throughout Kano.
