Valentine Ozigbo, a governorship hopeful under the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Anambra State, has expressed the view that the Labour Party is fading into political irrelevance.
Ozigbo, a former member Labour Party defected to the APC in February ahead of the upcoming governorship election in November 2025 in Anambra State made these remarks during an interview on Arise Television on Tuesday morning.

“LP is not exactly what people think they are seeing. I have made my case. Unfortunately, LP is almost in its dying days and over time people are going to see it.
“You can see how a lot of people are leaving the party. There is hardly any elected member of the party who I have spoken to that is intending to run his re-election campaign under the same platform.
“The Labour Party for me is in the past. I took a decision to go into APC not because I’m here to justify the actions of APC. I’m here as a catalyst for change,” Ozigbo stated.
Ozigbo, who was the Peoples Democratic Party’s (PDP) candidate in the last governorship race in Anambra, noted that his move to the APC was driven by a desire to contribute meaningfully to the party’s transformation.He also accused the current Anambra State Governor, Chukwuma Soludo, of being behind the internal challenges facing the APC in the state, alleging that the party’s crisis is being externally engineered.
