Lokpobiri: Wike Played a Key Role in My Petroleum Minister Appointment

Date:

The Minister of State for Petroleum Resources, Heineken Lokpobiri, has publicly credited Nyesom Wike, the Federal Capital Territory Minister, for facilitating his appointment in President Bola Tinubu’s cabinet.

Lokpobiri shared this insight during an event held in Wike’s honor by the Ijaw Peoples Congress in Port Harcourt, the capital of Rivers State, on Saturday. He revealed that the journey to his ministerial position began at Wike’s residence in Port Harcourt and was finalized at Wike’s home in Abuja.

Having previously served as the Minister of State for Agriculture and Rural Development from 2015 to 2019, Lokpobiri emphasized the significance of Wike’s support in his political advancement.

He stated, “I want to emphasize that my role as Minister of State for Petroleum Resources was made possible by Nyesom Wike. You heard the Managing Director of the NDDC mention how the FCT minister played a direct role in his appointment, and my situation was even more direct.

“It all began in Wike’s house in Port Harcourt and concluded in his house in Abuja. It’s important for me to share this history, especially since I noticed my name was not mentioned among those who have benefitted from his support. I want the Ijaw people to recognize that we have a true friend in him.

“It is always better to have a good friend than a bad brother. A bad brother is of no use, but a good friend like the FCT minister is a blessing.

“On behalf of the Ijaw people worldwide, I want to express our gratitude for your kindness toward us. We are a grateful people, and if you do us good, we will not repay it with evil. We look forward to your continued support for our Ijaw community.”
