Olatunji Oshati from Ose Constituency has since taken over as the new Majority Leader.
Akinruntan, who hails from the same local government as Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa, attributed his decision to the ongoing political zoning and power-sharing dynamics within the state.
He has been replaced by Ololade Gbegudu, who represents Okitipupa Constituency II.Oshati, the new Majority Leader, formally moved the motion nominating Gbegudu as Deputy Speaker.
The nomination was supported by lawmaker Oluwatoyin Japhet of Akoko North East and seconded by Chris Ayebusiwa of Okitipupa Constituency I.
Speaker Oladiji had earlier announced Oshati’s new leadership role, which was approved during a closed-door session of the Assembly.
