PDP fires back at Bolaji Abdullahi over verbal attack, labels him APC indoctrinated

Date:

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has strongly condemned what it described as an “unprovoked public verbal assault” on national television by Bolaji Abdullahi, the Interim National Publicity Secretary of the African Democratic Congress (ADC).

In a statement issued on Tuesday by its National Publicity Secretary, Hon. Debo Ologunagba, the PDP accused Abdullahi of using the platform of the ADC to launch unwarranted attacks on the main opposition party, instead of addressing pressing national issues.

“The attention of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has been drawn to an unprovoked public verbal assault on national television by Bolaji Abdullahi, the Interim National Publicity Secretary of the African Democratic Congress (ADC),” Ologunagba stated.

He described Abdullahi as “an individual known for his roles as chief image maker and defender of the lying, deceitful, corrupt and failed All Progressives Congress (APC),” adding that his decision to attack the PDP was “not only reckless but also revealing.”

According to the PDP, Abdullahi’s remarks suggest that he remains loyal to the ruling APC, and that his comments stem from dissatisfaction with the PDP’s growing momentum ahead of the 2027 general elections.

“It is rather unfortunate that the APC-indoctrinated Abdullahi is apparently unhappy that the PDP is building momentum against the APC ahead of the 2027 general elections hence this resort to attacking the PDP instead of confronting the APC,” Ologunagba remarked.

Despite the criticism, the PDP made it clear that it would not engage in confrontations with other opposition parties, including the ADC.

“In any case the PDP, as the leading opposition Party… will not descend to join issues with the ADC or any other opposition Party in the country for that matter,” he said.

Reiterating the PDP’s mission to unseat the APC, Ologunagba noted that the party would remain focused on confronting national challenges and advancing discourse aimed at restoring the nation.

“The PDP… will continue to vigorously challenge the failed APC on issues while shaping constructive national discourse and galvanizing Nigerians towards voting out the APC and installing a people-oriented government on the platform of our Party, come 2027,” he added.

He further emphasized that defections from the PDP have not weakened the party’s grassroots support, saying, “Despite the defections of some of our members, it is clear that Nigerians, who are the real organic strength of the PDP are still standing shoulder to shoulder with our Party.”

As Nigeria heads toward another electoral cycle, Ologunagba assured that the PDP remains the most formidable platform to challenge President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

“Moreover, it is instructive to state that the PDP, as presently constituted has more than enough presidential personalities with clear records of achievement and capacity to defeat President Bola Ahmed Tinubu at any time.

“Nevertheless, the party remains open to alliances with “well-meaning and like-minded” Nigerians to rescue the country from APC misrule.

“Our Party is working assiduously towards a successful National Convention slated for 15th to 16th November, 2025 in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital and will not allow itself to be distracted by baseless attacks from known agents of the APC,” the statement concluded.
