Ademola Lookman pays courtesy visit to Tinubu with CAF award

Super Eagles winger, Ademola Lookman, paid a visit to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu at his Lagos residence on Friday, presenting his 2024 CAF Men’s Player of the Year award to the Nigerian leader.

The 27-year-old forward, who currently plays for Italian Serie A side Atalanta, received the prestigious individual accolade in December 2024.

He became the second Nigerian in two years to win the award, following Victor Osimhen’s triumph in 2023.Lookman earned the recognition after a stellar 2023/2024 campaign for both club and country.

He registered 17 goals and 11 assists across all competitions and delivered a historic performance in the UEFA Europa League final, where he netted a remarkable hat trick against Bayer Leverkusen to secure Atalanta’s first-ever European title.

On the international stage, Lookman was instrumental in Nigeria’s journey to the final of the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations in Côte d’Ivoire.

He scored three goals during the tournament and was named in the competition’s Best XI, alongside Super Eagles captain William Troost-Ekong.

His recent visit to Nigeria comes on the heels of another productive season with Atalanta, during which he scored 20 goals in all competitions and helped the club finish third in Serie A for the 2024/25 campaign.
