Ajibade says FG yet to deliver promised rewards including $100,000

Super Falcons captain, Rasheedat Ajibade, has disclosed that the team is still waiting for the $100,000 reward and other pledges made by the Federal Government after their triumph at the 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) in Morocco.

Speaking in an interview with media personality Chude Jideonwo, Ajibade gave an update on the status of the promised benefits.

Chude asked, “Have they delivered the $100,000”?

“We have not received our money, but hopefully, it would be paid. They have not paid, all the promises, we have not received anything,” she responded.

Ajibade captained the Super Falcons to yet another continental success in Morocco, securing their record-breaking WAFCON title.

In recognition of the victory, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu honoured the players and coaching staff with the Officer of the Order of the Niger (OON) award.

The President also pledged $100,000 and a three-bedroom apartment to each player.

While hosting the team at the Presidential Villa, Tinubu lauded them for their “indomitable spirit of resilience, determination and courage,” describing their accomplishment as a proud and historic moment for Nigeria.
