Tobi Amusan claimed victory in the women’s 100 meters hurdles at the Diamond League meet held in Rabat, Morocco, delivering a standout performance that marked a significant return to form.
The 28-year-old sprint hurdler crossed the finish line in a season-best time of 12.24 seconds, shattering the previous meet record of 12.51 seconds set by Brianna McNeal.

Her dominant display not only earned her the top spot but also set a new benchmark for the competition. This victory marks Amusan’s first major win of the 2025 season.
She had earlier finished fourth in successive Diamond League events in Xiamen and Shanghai in May, struggling to find her rhythm against strong competition.
In contrast, she had taken gold at the Velocity Fest 16 in Jamaica back in March, although that field lacked the depth seen in Diamond League meets.
Her success in Rabat comes as a much-needed boost following a difficult 2024 campaign, where she was unable to progress to the final of the women’s 100m hurdles at the Paris Olympics — a major setback in her otherwise stellar career.
In preparation for the new season, Amusan made a strategic shift in her training by joining Racers Track Club, a prestigious Jamaican training group led by Glen Mills, the legendary coach known for guiding Usain Bolt.Reflecting on her improved performance, Amusan credited a renewed focus on hurdle-specific training as a major factor in her Rabat success.
“More hurdles practice, because I have been doing more sprinting. It was after the first two Diamond League meetings, I knew I had to go back to doing more hurdle drills,” she said.
“Two weeks in, I can tell the difference.”
Amusan is no stranger to Diamond League success, having won the 100 meters hurdles title three years in a row from 2021 to 2023.
Her Rabat victory now positions her as a strong contender as the 2025 season unfolds.
