Nigeria’s men’s basketball team, D’Tigers, have confirmed their final roster for the 2024 Men’s AfroBasket Championship scheduled to take place in Angola from August 12 to August 24.
The team is aiming for a second African title, ten years after their first triumph in 2015. Drawn in Group B alongside Tunisia, Madagascar, and Cameroon, D’Tigers will open their campaign against Madagascar on August 13.

Following the final training camp, head coach Mohammed Abdulrahman dropped Fola Fayemi, Kareem Joseph, and Mohamed AbdulSalam from the provisional squad.
Center Peter Olisemeka will also not feature after being ruled ineligible.
NBA guard Josh Okogie leads the team, with experienced players Talib Zanna, Ike Nwamu, Stan Okoye, and Caleb Agada returning to the lineup.
Emerging talents Kaodirichi Akobundu-Ehiogu, Mike Nuga, Devine Eke, Christian Mekowulu, Martins Igbanu, Ugo Andrew Simon, and Emmanuel Omogbo have also been called up.
The 2024 tournament marks the 31st edition of AfroBasket since its inception in 1962.
Angola remains the most successful team with 11 titles, while defending champions Tunisia are aiming to retain their crown.
Sixteen nations will compete for the trophy, with D’Tigers seeking to replicate the dominance of Nigeria’s women’s team, D’Tigress, who are the reigning African champions.
