Adamawa State Governor, Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, has honoured Super Falcons assistant coach, Justin Madugu, with a three-bedroom house and a cash gift of N50 million in recognition of his role in the team’s recent success at the 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON).
The presentation took place at the Government House in Yola, according to a Facebook post shared by Pius Iliya, an aide to the governor. A photo of Governor Fintiri and Coach Madugu was also posted alongside the announcement.

Madugu, a native of Adamawa State, received praise from Governor Fintiri for his contribution to the national team’s remarkable campaign in Morocco earlier this year.
“Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, on behalf of the Government and people of Adamawa State, has gifted Justine Pwanidi Madugu ( Coach of Nigeria’s Super Falcons) a three-bedroom bungalow and a sum of N50m for leading the team into winning the 2024 Women African Cup of Nation that took place in Morocco this year,” the Facebook post read.
This recognition comes just weeks after the Super Falcons secured their historic 10th WAFCON title, cementing their legacy as the most successful women’s football team in Africa.
Prior to the governor’s gesture, the team had been hosted in Abuja by President Bola Tinubu, who organised a special reception to celebrate their achievement.

At the event, each player received $100,000 in cash, while technical crew members, including Coach Madugu, were awarded $50,000 each. They were also given three-bedroom apartments and conferred with national honours as Officers of the Order of the Niger.
Nigeria’s triumph in the final was dramatic, as they overturned a 2-0 deficit to defeat Morocco 3-2. The comeback was driven by goals from Esther Okoronkwo, Folashade Ijamilusi, and Jennifer Echegini in the second half. The Falcons concluded the tournament unbeaten, netting 10 goals and allowing only three.
