Chelsea has confirmed the signing of striker Liam Delap from Ipswich Town, with the 22-year-old putting pen to paper on a deal that runs until 2031.
The club made this known via on their website Wednesday evening.
Delap, a regular for England’s Under-21s, impressed in the 2024/25 Premier League season by netting 12 goals. His standout performances earned him a nomination for the Young Player of the Year award.

He said: “I understand the stature of this club and can see the trajectory it is on with these players and the head coach. It’s going to be an incredible place for me to develop, and I hope to achieve amazing things here and help the club win more trophies.”
The forward began his development at Derby County’s academy before joining Manchester City in 2019. He advanced quickly through the youth ranks, moving from the Under-18s to the Elite Development Squad, where he was coached by Enzo Maresca—now the head coach at Chelsea.
During his time with City’s development side, Delap had a prolific run, scoring 24 goals in just 20 Premier League 2 fixtures.
He also made an instant impact at senior level, scoring on his debut in the League Cup and making his Premier League debut against Leicester City.
In the 2021/22 season, he featured more frequently for the first team before going out on loan to Stoke City and Preston North End to gain further experience.
Delap joined Hull City for the 2023/24 campaign, contributing eight goals before making the switch to newly promoted Ipswich Town.
At Ipswich, he continued his strong form, finding the net 12 times across 37 Premier League matches.
On the international stage, Delap has featured consistently across England’s youth setup, most recently appearing for the Under-21s earlier this year.
