Super Falcons forward Asisat Oshoala has quashed speculation suggesting her retirement from international duty.
Following Nigeria’s nail-biting 3-2 comeback victory over hosts Morocco in the final of the 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON), Oshoala addressed the rumours while speaking to journalists in Morocco.

“I don’t know where that came from but agenda must agend. I get it, but I’m not bothered. I’m still here. I’m still playing. I’m still doing my job. That’s what I’m focused on,” Oshoala said.
The 30-year-old featured in Nigeria’s final 23-woman squad and contributed in a supporting capacity throughout the tournament.
Oshoala’s national team journey began in 2013 and took off in 2014 following her breakout performance at the FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup and Nigeria’s WAFCON triumph that same year.
She holds the unique record of scoring in three successive FIFA Women’s World Cup tournaments — the first African player to do so.
The Barcelona Femeni star now has four WAFCON titles to her name (2014, 2016, 2018, and 2024) and remains one of the most influential figures in the history of Nigerian women’s football.
